Q: Our powder room off the main entrance of our house is tall, skinny and cold feeling. How can we cozy it up?

To combat that milk carton vibe, divide the room horizontally--either at the top of the door frame or just above your sink--and paint the upper portion, including the ceiling, a different colour than the bottom portion. (A darker colour on the top will create a lot of drama.) Replace that flush-mount light with a semi-flush or hanging fixture to bring the ceiling height down a bit, or try wall sconces. A large mirror will also give the illusion of depth and distract the eye from the height of the room. Complete the transformation with a small carpet and fluffy hand towels.
