Q: What happens to the lost luggage that never makes it back to its owners from airlines?

Michele says...
Fortunately, that applies to a very small percentage of bags, but when the airline is unable to locate owners, stray suitcases land in Scottsboro, Alabama at the Unclaimed Baggage Center (unclaimedbaggage.com). The 40,000-square-foot store sells goods at bargain prices, including designer clothing, jewellery, electronics, books, sporting goods, luggage and even rugs. It's well worth the trip down south! Oddities sometimes also pop up: a suit of armour, a 5.8-carat-diamond ring, and a guidance system for a F16 fighter jet—which was later returned to the U.S. Navy.
