Q: When we travel, we like to book inexpensive accommodations that don’t mean roughing it. Any tips?

Budget boutique hotels around the planet offer haute style and low prices. Some primo specimens include Hotel QT in New York (rooms from $195) and The James in Scottsdale, Arizona (from $233). Cheaper still are motels, which have funked up their style. Case in point: Aqua Hotel in hip South Beach, where rooms start at $110. For über-cheap, there’s EasyHotel, with locations in London (from $63) and Basel, Switzerland (from $28). For more options, check out Cheap Sleeps guidebooks or budgettravelonline.com.
