Q: What is the deal with travel advisories? Should we totally avoid going to those places that have warnings?

Michele says...
I believe that governments err on the side of caution to protect their citizens, so don’t decide to go or not go based on a travel advisory or media here. Look up your intended destination’s local news online. This should give you a clearer picture of what’s going on and whether problems are ongoing or isolated incidents. You can also check out a site like virtualtourist.com, where message boards allow you to ask fellow travellers what kind of experiences they have had at the destination. Get fully informed, then decide.
