Q: Does consuming more protein help burn fat faster when I work out?

Yes. High-intensity workouts encourage the body to rebuild muscles, making them bigger and stronger, and protein is an essential nutrient used for growth, repair and regulatory processes. The more muscle you have, the more calories you’ll burn. Your lean body mass will increase and you’ll end up with less body fat—bring on bathing-suit season! When I can’t get protein from a natural source (such as meat, nuts, tofu, cheese and eggs), I supplement with a whey protein. It helps increase my energy and speeds recovery after a tough workout.
