Q: Why is it that I always feel like lying down after eating a large meal?

According to Andrea Miller, a registered dietitian, it’s because “digestion moves blood volume away from other muscles, such as our legs and arms, and into our digestive tract, thus using up a lot of energy and oxygen, leaving little to fuel other activities.” And while resting on a full belly is not bad for you, your digestive system is not working in its optimal position (as in upright). So instead of dining and dropping, wait about 20 minutes, grab your sneakers, and go for a stroll.
