There Is Growing Speculation Kate Is Pregnant

Multiple media outlets have been speculating that the Duchess of Cambridge is pregnant -- speculation that was fuelled after a visit she made with Will to a UNICEF distribution center in Copenhagen, Denmark last Wednesday.

It was there Kate was seen repeatedly touching her midsection. "It was very noticeable," one onlooker told the Daily Mail. "She continually patted it and held her hands against it. She must have been doing it without realizing, and at one point she had both her hands cradling her stomach."

She also declined to have peanut paste that was offered to her at the UNICEF center -- which ABC's London-based correspondent Nick Watt called "a seismic moment." (William and the Danish royals with him all sampled the peanut paste that went into the UNICEF packages, but the Duchess declined and gave her husband a knowing look as he examined the label.)

Kate doesn't have a peanut allergy, the palace confirms -- and it is known that pregnant woman are asked to avoid peanuts so their babies don't develop allergies.

Also, her choice of outfit contributed to buzz that she's hiding a baby bump, as her coat seemed a size too large for her.

The Daily Beast also has more "circumstantial" evidence she is pregnant -- the first being the meaningful looks and gestures that William directs toward his wife in the official UNICEF video. "When they are coming out of the helicopter in the opening shot, for example, he abruptly breaks off from his chat with the crown prince of Denmark and puts an arm out to Kate -- which could well be the simple manifestation of a newly married husband’s affection for his wife but, when watched frame by frame -- looks exactly like a variation on the many well-worn routines expectant first-time dads, trained by Hollywood to expect nine months of nonstop vomiting, have of discreetly asking their first-time pregnant wives if they are feeling all right."

And as the Daily Beast adds, "The other extraordinary element, which has been totally overlooked by the international media, is the significance of the fact that the laws of succession were changed quite suddenly last week, meaning that a firstborn daughter of William and Kate would become queen rather than seeing the title pass to a younger brother."

US Weekly went so far as to add a poll on their website asking whether Harry would make a better uncle or Pippa a better aunt.

And then there's the Palace PR machine, which has remained strangely quiet in refuting the media reports she is preggers.

If Kate is pregnant, it would be exciting news but not a great surprise. Both William's mother, the late Princess Diana, and his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, had babies within a year of their weddings.

In any case, all this talk of a Kate pregnancy does have have people going nuts with excitement, USA Today reports.
