Q: If we don't put our toddler in daycare and he spends his days with Grandma, is he missing out?

alternate text
Don't let the boob tube babysit!

Lezlie says...
That depends on Grandma's lifestyle. Will she plunk him down in front of the TV for the day? Or is she going to traipse hither and yon in search of parks full of kids, libraries full of books and museums full of exciting things? Either way, i'’s not going to kill your child to be at home. But consider the advantages of a daycare where early-childhood educators run the show: He might be missing out on contact with regulated professionals who can assess developmental milestones and tailor the curriculum to his needs.

Lezlie Lowe has two jobs: 1) freelance writer/broadcaster/researcher, and 2) mother of two young girls. Guess which is more difficult. Click here to send her your questions.
