Once a woman gives birth to her first child, those motherly instincts kick in, but what about for men?
One in five fathers admit to never actually holding a baby before their own, followed by 30 percent that say they have no idea how to hold an infant at all.
This leads to an overwhelming 90 percent of men confessing they want more practical parenting information to be available before their child is born, according to research by Persil.
62 percent of women feel that natural instinct from day one, compared to 19 percent of new fathers that take an average of one week to feel comfortable holding their infant.
The result of this study, carried out by Persil Non-Bio and Comfort Pure, has now led to the brand teaming up with England rugby player and father of twin girls Ben Cohen, 34, to help create the upcoming book, Cuddle Mastery Guide.
"Spending that quality time with them learning how to cuddle and reading up beforehand really helps to increase your confidence," says Cohen.
With 40 percent of dads not having one-on-one time with their baby in the first week, it can be hard to get comfortable quickly.
Hopefully with this new guide, and some more immediate one-on-one time, men can ease up quicker and have their own natural instincts.
