You never forget your first love -- and if you're lucky, you get a second chance at it!
Brenda Loy, 82 and Fred Wilcock, 81 were best friends growing up in a tiny English village. They did everything together, and everyone assumed they'd end up together.
"We played in the woods together, and then as we grew older, we'd go to the pictures and attended local dances. Fred joined the local brass band and I used to go watch him," Brenda told the Daily Mail.
But alas! Fred left the village in 1948 to join the army, and Brenda moved away with her family. They lost touch, and both married other people.
"When we were apart, I often wondered where she was," Fred said, despite his happy marriage.
Two years ago, however, fate intervened when the pair had a chance meeting at a local hospital -- they'd been living 30 miles away from each other the whole time!
"I wasn't in a good way after my wife died...but after meeting Brenda I'm a changed man. I'll never hurt her and and I'll always be there for her. I think fate brought us back together all these years later," said Fred.
The two have no plans to marry, and still live apart. They just enjoy spending time together -- exactly like when they were children, all those years ago.
