Fellows, take note: if you want to stay married for a long time, you might want to spend a little more time over the stove.
Bob and Celia Hardcastle are celebrating their 70th wedding anniversary, and the UK sweethearts attribute never arguing and Bob's culinary skills to their successful union!
The couple met as teenagers in 1940 and wed two years later when Bob, now 91, was on leave from the Royal Navy. Three days after their wedding, Bob was sent to Malta for three years -- a rocky start to a marriage, but the lovebirds persevered.
"We do get good times and bad times – sometimes we just throw things at each other," Celia, now 88, joked with local newspaper the Hertfordshire Mercury. "We have a lot of respect for each other and really miss each other when they are not there. I couldn't do without him."
The couple celebrated their Platinum wedding anniversary with a dinner at the Buttercup Tearoom, where we suspect they enjoyed the Early Bird special!
